about lgw & tft
There is occasions and causes why and wherefore in all things.
…and our idea is that this blog will be a record of the collaboration between TFT and LGW over 2008. We aim to track the various ideas we pursue with LGW’s middle and senior school classes and demonstrate how a tech and a teacher can make learning 2.0 happen when they are on a similar wavelength.
LGW…
TFT… trained as a Motor Mechanic and worked in the Motor Industry for 17 years, attaining the position of Service Manager. Earlier, in the eighties, he started playing with Personal Computers and relished when the uber-powerful Intel 386’s were released. Luckily both the Personal Computer Technology, and TFT’s wonderment of it have come along way since then.
TFT left the Motor Industry and set himself up in business doing Computer Repairs. It was his desire to help out the small (42 students) Independent College that his 3 sons attended with their Computer troubles that led to his desire to see this rapidly changing Technology used in Education.
When LGW started teaching at the same K-12 Independent College, there was a difference of opinion between the 2 of them on some issues. It has been said that they “butted heads” but I cant recall it getting quite that far. This caused the pair to sit down and talk about their reasoning behind these issues. The outcome was an understanding of each others dreams for integrating ICT into the everyday Classroom and changing the way students approach their lessons.
The outcome is Paradise Unplugged (wireless – outside the box – in Paradise).
